Plans are already underway with the above scheduled event for women in the month of September (7th from 2- 4:30 pm). This is a discipleship building initiative tailored to our women in the church with invitations to be sent out to the Metro Church of Christ , our Sunday tenants. Mark this event in your calendar and watch out for more details in the coming weeks.
The designated monthly Evangelism Community Sabbath falls on the second Saturday of the month, and this special occasion provides a unique opportunity for us to invite non-church people from the local community
including our friends, neighbors, and family members to experience Adventist worship and fellowship together with us. The next community Sabbath is also the close of the annual Family Week of Prayer while celebrating our international family at the same time. Reach out to someone you are connected with on a regular basis and invite them to church on this special Sabbath in our church calendar.
To build community and to bring awareness to who is who in our local congregation, we a re now embarking on a ministry project to capture current images/picture of our members for the church’s online directory. This is a general notice to our members about the project with individual invitations to be given/delivered to specific people listed for the different Sabbaths starting on August 23. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and for your willingness to assist us with this ministry need.
The annual Family Week of Prayer for the Seventh-day Adventist Church is in September, and we have meetings organized to take place in the church and in home groups. The start (Sabbath, September 6) and close (Sabbath, September 13) of the Week of Prayer will be in the church including Monday (September 8), Tuesday (September 9), and Wednesday (September 10). For the other days: Sunday (September 7), Thursday (September 11), and Friday (September 12), our people will meet in home groups. Please mark this church event in your calendar.
God has blessed our congregation with the diversity of people groups, cultures, and languages; and this is a strength to be celebrated. We will recognize and affirm this diversity of God’s people in the next Evangelism
Community Sabbath, and we are encouraging members and guests to come dressed in their cultural attire, prepare a dish or two from their ethnic favorites to share during our community luncheon. Here is the list of countries we know that are currently represented in our congregation: American Samoa, Australia, Bolivia, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Germany, Guatemala, Haiti, Hawaii, Hungary, Japan, Kenya, Korea, Mexico, Micronesia, Pohnpei, New Zealand, Philippines, Pingelap, Romania, Russia, Samoa, Scotland, Sweden, United States of America and Vietnam. If your country is not listed, please notify Barbara Fulton right away. We want everyone’s country to be recognized.
An important ingredient to living life to the full is our capacity as humans to make friends and nurture relationships. As a church family, we want to celebrate our past relationships with former members and friends, and we have plans already for a Homing Coming Sabbath scheduled for the third Saturday in October with Pastor Gene Heinrich as our worship service speaker. There will also be a special testimonial service in lieu of Sabbath
School to revisit and celebrate what God did for us then. Please mark this event in your calendar and start contacting and inviting your former church friends to Rockwood on this Sabbath.
