Evangelism Community Sabbath:
December 13

Next Saturday is our Community Sabbath, a unique opportunity for us to invite non-church people from the local community including our friends, neighbors, and family members to experience Adventist worship and fellowship together with us. Reach out to someone you are connected with on a regular basis and invite them to church on this special Sabbath to enjoy our Christmas brunch (9:30 – 10:30 am) and Christmas musical program.

Christmas Brunch: December 13

You are cordially invited to our annual Christmas brunch scheduled for the Sabbath of December 13 at 9:30 -10:30 am. This church and community meal is a time to celebrate life together. Life for many of us is busy, and very often we journey through time on our own, but this is an opportunity to rethink relationships and refocus on who we are, God’s family. Please note that we are not having Sabbath School on this date. To help us make this church event successful, we are asking for the congregation – members with their last names starting with the letters A-L to bring fruit plates and those whose last names start with the letters M-Z to bring sweet bread. We would appreciate that you bring bread and/or fruit PLATED and TABLE READY (the kitchen will be very busy and there is no space to prepare what you bring). The church will provide the main dishes.

Youth Ministry

The last Friday vesper for this year (2025) is December 12 at 7 pm. Everyone is encouraged to bring a friend, neighbor, coworker, and/or parent; and bring your children too. The evening will include Bible games and a Bible study on the theme of “Overcoming Struggles.” Light refreshments will be provided. The next youth vesper is January 23, 2026.

Church Gym Night: Saturday, December 20

The youth will host an open gym night for the church at PAES, Saturday, December 20 at 7pm. There will be basketball, volleyball and other organized activities.

Special Gifts for God’s Gift

In this season of giving, and in gratitude to God for the gift of Jesus, we are soliciting your help to assist us is in these two important needs of the church. 1. Treasurer’s Laptop ($1000): We cannot function without this essential equipment in support of the Finance/Treasury services of our congregation. 2. Lobby Furnishing ($4000): To update existing furniture and provide a homely and welcoming atmosphere for our guests and members as they come into church for worship, we are committed to making the above changes by January 2026. We thank you in advance for your generosity, financial donations, and support for these projects of our church.

Rockwood’s Outreach - Utility Vouchers in December

As part of our humanitarian service to the community, we will offer limited support to families needing monetary assistance to cover cost of utilities (PGE, Water, Gas or Phone). Please make your checks payable to the church, noting that it is for utility vouchers. Donating online? Mark it for the Humanitarian Fund. Please stop at the little desk in the lobby and pick up a voucher. Call Kamille at (971) 284-2824 if you have questions about this project.

PAES: The Panther Pantry

The Portland Adventist Elementary School’s (PAES) motto is “to be a light in the community,” and supporting families with essential food items is a meaningful way during the holiday season for the school to shine that light. Food will be distributed every Tuesday from 5:00 - 6:00 pm beginning November 18 through December 16.
All food is provided free of charge to anyone who needs it—no questions asked. Please share this information with others.
